We place a high emphasis on creative skills at Calder Vale. We have our very own orchestra and every pupil learns to play a musical instrument within school. Over the past few years we have all learned to play violins, cellos, violas, double bass and the ukulele! This year (2016-2017) we are all learning to play percussion.
Some children have also chosen to continue learning their stringed instruments, having additional lessons and attending after school ‘Strictly Strings’ music group.
This year we have played a number of public performances including a busking afternoon in Garstang, accompanying the church choir and playing in church for several services.
For our ‘Peace’ whole school value we learned to play ‘Peace Perfect Peace’ – listen to our first full rehearsal together!
Spring 2014 Mothering Sunday Service
The congregation was treated to some ‘home baking’ by the children as well as the indulgent ‘home baking served up after the Mothering Sunday Service. Thank you to everyone who supported us or who took part in the service-the children spoke clearly and with conviction. Once again we enjoyed a strong performance from the school orchestra as they performed ‘Peace, Perfect Peace’.
