Mad Science Presentation! Wednesday 20th April 2016

The children loved ‘Turbo Tom’s visit to school this afternoon. The presentation by ‘Mad Science’ led us on a journey to discover new concepts and develop our knowledge of scientific vocabulary. There were lots of smiles and laughter as Turbo Tom used volunteers to support him in setting up and carrying out the practical and hands-on experiments throughout the display!

A little Visitor – Friday 15th April 2016

Blubell class developed their knowledge of ‘how human babies change’ today following a visit from a baby. The children had prepared questions to ask and our visiting baby loved it when the children sang nursery rhymes to her!

Collaboration Day – Stone Age Bone Age

The children enjoyed changing a bare winter woodland into an awesome Stone Age village in just under three hours!
The team work, talking, discussing and building was non-stop as the children worked together in their phases to build and construct shelters in our beautiful woodland area. The younger learners used the trees for support and the more experienced learners investigated and constructed free standing shelters.

Village life was officially complete after lunch when the children worked together to gather firewood and create a small camp fire to which everyone gathered around to enjoy singing campfire songs music played by Mr England on his guitar! A beautiful harmony!

Thursday 3rd December 2015

Bluebell Class have had an AMAZING time exploring Barton Grange this morning.

They spotted Eddie Topping on the way in and investigated the Cook Shop after taking a moment to reflect on the Nativity

Scene and talk about Advent and Christmas and what it means to them.

The Cook Shop was full of exciting ideas and the children loved the ‘Popcorn’ themed tree by the entrance gate.
The Christmas decorations were spectacular and the children enjoyed investigating, estimating, counting and finding fractions of elves, owls and the stunningly beautiful, giant wooden Nutcracker.

The Riverside CafĂ© was the highlight of the visit and the children loved choosing from the range of delicious cakes and biscuits, which they ate in the beautifully decorated ‘candy cane / gingerbread man’ themed area.

Lights, trees and the interactive displays with a finale of singing bears and the enormous Advent calendar all made this successful outing a great start to our jam packed December!
